O 8th International Meeting of the Portuguese Carbohydrate Group (GLUPOR 8) decorrerá na Universidade do Minho, em Braga, entre os dias 6 e 10 de Setembro de 2009. O evento é dirigido a todos os investigadores com interesse em alguma das áreas da química dos carbohidratos.
Os Encontros internacionais denominados GLUPOR`s tiveram o seu início em 1995, sob os auspícios da Sociedade Portuguesa de Química.
Ana Paula Esteves, presidente da Comissão Organizadora, faz o seguinte enquadramento destas reuniões científicas:

A multidisciplinaridade que os caracteriza permitiram tornar estes eventos numa oportunidade de reunião bienal de investigadores nacionais e internacionais a trabalhar em qualquer tema relacionado com a química dos carbohidratos para apresentarem e discutirem os desenvolvimentos mais recentes.»
