1st Annual Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine and Biomedical Technologies (A4M Iberia)

Entre os dias 29 e 31 de Maio de 2008 a península Ibérica vai receber, pela primeira vez, o Congresso anual da Anti-Aging Medicine and Biomedical Technologies, que decorrerá no Estoril.

A organização do evento, a cargo da American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), conta receber mais de 700 participantes diariamente, estando já confirmados 80 oradores internacionais. De acordo com o seu website, pretende que este seja o mais importante encontro internacional da área, tendo sido projectado para abranger áreas multidisciplinares e complementares de medicina tais como: cardiologia, ginecologia, urologia, neurologia, oncologia, medicina estética, cirurgia plástica e reconstrutiva, biologia molecular, genética, biotecnologia, farmacogenética, nutrição, motricidade humana e medicina desportiva.

Este congresso tem como objectivo principal «proporcionar a todos os profissionais de saúde um melhor entendimento dos conceitos ligados à medicina anti-aging e medicina geriátrica», sendo composto por dois salões e por setenta e dois workshops.


São vários os motivos apresentados pela A4M Iberia para a participação no congresso:

A escolha de Portugal

Enquanto organizadora do evento e presidente do capítulo Ibérico da A4M, a Prof.ª Dr.ª Isabel Hoffmann Miles, que possui a Nacionalidade Portuguesa e Canadiana, assumiu um papel preponderante para que Portugal receba, em Maio de 2008, o 1st Annual Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine and Biomedical Technologies (A4M Iberia).

Isabel Hoffmann possui uma intensa experiência de criação e gestão de empresas. Nos últimos 19 anos criou oito empresas na área dos cuidados de saúde, educação médica contínua na internet, entretenimento e software. A sua carreira teve início na Universidade de Toronto, instituição onde foi Professora e Directora do Centro de Design Tecnológico, de que foi fundadora.

Entre outras homenagens, em 1996 recebeu, por parte da Ernst & Young's, o prémio de Empresária do Ano. Em 1999 foi-lhe atribuída o prémio do American-Canadian Business Council. É actualmente a Directora responsável pela Gestão da GenoSolutions LDA, uma clínica e laboratório dedicado à medicina preventiva e predictiva.

The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, Inc. ("A4M") is a not-for-profit medical society dedicated to the advancement of technology to detect, prevent, and treat aging related disease and to promote research into methods to retard and optimize the human aging process. A4M is also dedicated to educating physicians, scientists, and members of the public on anti-aging issues. A4M believes that the disabilities associated with normal aging are caused by physiological dysfunction which in many cases are ameliorable to medical treatment, such that the human life span can be increased, and the quality of one's life improved as one grows chronologically older.

A4M seeks to disseminate information concerning innovative science and research as well as treatment modalities designed to prolong the human life span. Anti-aging medicine is based on the scientific principles of responsible medical care consistent with those of other healthcare specialties. Although A4M seeks to disseminate information on many types of medical treatments, it does not promote or endorse any specific treatment nor does it sell or endorse any commercial product.

Our objectives:

Make available life-extending information about the multiple benefits of anti-aging therapeutics to practicing physicians.

Assist in developing therapeutic protocols and innovative diagnostic tools to aid physicians in the implementation of effective longevity treatment.

Act as an information center for valid and effective anti-aging medical protocols.

Assist in obtaining and disseminating funding for scientifically sound and innovative research in anti-aging medicine.

Assist in the funding and promotion of critical anti-aging, clinically based research.

Government outreach, education, and advocacy for anti-aging medicine
